Procedure Overview: Male Breast Reduction
1. An incision is made in an inconspicuous area such as the edge of the areola or the under arm.
2. Excess glandular tissue is excised.
3. Liposuction may be performed to remove any fatty deposits.
4. The male breast reduction will take one to two hours.
Recovery Time: Male Breast Reduction
After surgery, you may experience some pain that can be controlled with medication. To help reduce swelling and bruising, you’ll have to wear a pressure garment for about three weeks.
Much of the swelling will be gone within a few weeks after surgery, but some may linger for as long as three months. And during the recovery process, heavy lifting and aerobic activity must be avoided for six weeks.
