Tummy Tuck

Nip And Tuck Your Tummy’s Extra Skin

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, removes excess skin in the abdomen from significant weight loss, pregnancies or abdominal surgeries.

Procedure Overview: Tummy Tuck

To be considered an ideal candidate for a tummy tuck, you should be close to your ideal weight with substantial skin laxity and a considerable amount of extra skin in the belly region. After the procedure, you can expect the results to be a smooth, flatter stomach that’s permanent.

Please note, a tummy tuck only removes excess skin. Although the average weight loss is two to three pounds, liposuction is the ideal procedure for getting rid of fat.

Tummy tucks do produce a visible scar, but Dr. Rifai places it below the bikini line so it’s well hidden.

Recovery Time: Tummy Tuck

Recovery time from a tummy tuck is two to three weeks. You can expect some swelling and bruising after the procedure to last about six weeks. However, some people may experience swelling for as long as six months.

You will not be allowed to drive until all drains are removed. Aerobic exercise and heavy lifting must be avoided for six weeks too.
