Although you may have breast implants, some people opt to change them as time wears on.
With older ones, the risk of failure increases. Others want a different size or type of implant (changing from saline to silicone and vice versa).
Whatever your reason is, Dr. Rifai has over 25 years experience augmenting breasts and can do so as safely as possible.
Procedure Overview: Breast Implant Replacement
The procedure usually goes through the old incision.
It’s reopened and the implant is removed.
The cavity is thoroughly inspected and washed with saline solution.
If you want either larger or smaller implants, adjustments to the cavity might be necessary.
Recovery Time: Breast Implant Replacement
Depending on the procedure, recovery can take three to ten days. Your breasts will look and feel different if the implant is changed. And if you decide to change the implant again at a future date, there shouldn’t be any problems with that at all.
Frequently Asked Breast Implant Replacement Questions
Q: Can a replacement be performed more than once?
Answer: Yes, there is no theoretical limit to the times the procedure can be performed.
Q: Will my breasts feel or look different?
Answer: Yes, if the type, size, shape of the implant is changed.
