Breast Reduction
Smaller Breasts Can Make A Huge Difference
Having oversized and heavy breasts can be a massive burden both physically and emotionally. If you have breasts that are too large you most likely suffer from back, neck and/or shoulder pain. Thereʼs also a good chance you have skin irritation, chaffing and even find some physical activities like running or working out to be more difficult.
Procedure Overview: Breast Reduction
A breast reduction is achieved through the removal of breast tissue. Once the excess tissue is removed, the breast is reshaped and the nipple is raised into a more natural position. One popular method of breast reduction is liposuction. Liposuction sends high frequency sound waves through breast tissue to aid in the removal process while allowing the skin to be firmed and tightened at the same time. Regardless of method of breast reduction you chose, the end result is a smaller, more beautiful breast with a natural contour.
Recovery Time: Breast Reduction
After a breast reduction you will experience minimal to moderate discomfort. Some patients compare the feeling to a sore muscle after a hard workout. The amount of scarring involved will depend on the method of breast reduction that you and Dr. Rifai decide on. Fortunately, Dr. Rifai is an expert at reducing the appearance of scars and with time they will eventually fade.
Restrictions after a breast reduction involve minimizing arm movement and physical activity until the area has healed. Patients are also encouraged not to breast feed after a breast reduction as to help keep their breasts symmetrical.
Most patients can expect their breast reduction to remain the same from year to year. Patients who experience any growth after the procedure are typically younger or have recently had a child and are lactating.
Dr. Rifai is an expert in all methods of breast reduction and will discuss the various options during your consultation.
