Nose Surgery
Small Changes To Your Nose For A Big Improvement
Also called a rhinoplasty or nose job, this is a procedure that helps correct features in the nose such as a low or high bridge flaring or wide nostrils or deformities as the result of trauma. For those who also have a deviated septum, a septoplasty can be preformed at the same to help correct that as well.
During your consultation, Dr. Rifai will listen to what you would like to change about your nose and will determine the technique that best fits your needs.
Procedure Overview: Nose Surgery
1. There are two types of approaches to a nose job: the open and closed procedure. Dr. Rifai will determine which one is ideal for what needs to be done.
2. The rhinoplasty should take roughly 2.5hrs to complete.
Recovery Time: Nose Surgery
After surgery, nasal drains will be inserted into your nose to help with drainage and will be removed the next day. A plastic splint is also applied to help provide support and is removed at your one-week follow-up visit. Because of all of that, we recommend taking a week off of work or school.
There is usually no pain involved with nose surgery, but there will be bruising and swelling which could last six months or longer.
Frequently Asked Nose Surgery Questions
Q: When can I return to work or school?
Answer: There is very little discomfort associated with the surgery but there will be bruising and swelling of varying degrees. In addition, a nasal splint must be worn for 1 week. Therefore, we generally recommend at least one week off of school or work.
