Rhinoplasty

Serving Detroit, Southfield, Port Huron, Ann Arbor, Dundee and Jackson, Michigan

Rhinoplasty (also known as nose surgery) is used to re-shape the nose, correcting and refining the appearance of a large, disproportionate nose so it better fits the natural aesthetics of your face. If you are frustrated with the way your nose seems to draw attention away from the rest of your facial features, rhinoplasty may be the ideal solution for you.

Call (248) 723-9370 to schedule a free rhinoplasty consultation in the Detroit area.

Common Reasons for Undergoing Rhinoplasty

Some of the most common cosmetic nose issues that a rhinoplasty can correct are:

  • Overly large or small nose
  • Overly wide or narrow nose
  • Bump or hump in the nose bridge
  • Prominent nostrils
  • Upturned or downturned nose
  • Broken or crooked nose

Nose Surgery for a Deviated Septum

Sometimes, a crooked nose can be more than just a cosmetic problem. Many patients also have a deviated septum that interferes with their breathing. A deviated septum occurs when the thin “wall” between your two nostrils does not divide them evenly; instead, it is shifted to one side, making one of your nasal passages smaller.

Dr. Rifai can correct this problem through rhinoplasty. Technically, the procedure used to fix a deviated septum is called a “septoplasty” – but Dr. Rifai can combine the septoplasty technique with a rhinoplasty to improve the cosmetic appearance of your nose along with its functional shape.

The Rhinoplasty Procedure

The average rhinoplasty takes around 2.5 hours to perform. There are two main approaches to nose surgery:

  • Closed – All incisions are made inside of your nostrils. No external scarring will be visible.
  • Open – A small incision is made across the “bridge” that separates your nostrils. This allows for improved accuracy and versatility during particularly complex procedures.

After carefully examining your nose and discussing your goals for your appearance, Dr. Rifai will decide which technique is right for you. For more information about this procedure, please visit: Rhinoplasty: What to Expect.
